The Silver family makes history.

At Ocean-View, we know of no other family that can match the combination of type and production found in three consecutive generations of Silvers. Behind the Silvers stand 14 consecutive generations of Excellent and Very Good cows averaging over 91 points, a maternal line loaded with longevity, production, and breed influence. But it gets better than that with each generation. Ocean-View Sterling Silver EX-94, Ocean-View Silver Lining EX-94, and Ocean-View Lined In Silver EX-91 represent a remarkable maternal trio that averages 93 points, and all three have produced 50,000+ pounds of milk in their second lactation. Think about that 3 generations EX ave 93 and all over 50k second lactation!

Sterling Silver first captured attention as the 2019 Holstein USA Star of the Breed, a National Elite Performer, and a cow that topped 58,000 pounds of milk while earning an Excellent-94 classification. Her daughter, Silver Lining, followed with records exceeding 52,000 pounds, an Excellent-94 score, and a Jr. All-American nomination. The next generation, Lined In Silver, continued the tradition with a 50,700-pound record and Excellent 91 classification of her own.

But the story runs much deeper than three generations.

The Silver family traces directly to the legendary Ideograph Burkgov Steps EX-90-2E GMD, one of the most influential foundation cows in Ocean-View history. Through the generations, this pedigree contains at least five separate connections to Ocean-View Sexation, creating a concentration of maternal genetics that is nearly impossible to duplicate today. It is the kind of linebreeding that can only be built through decades of careful breeding decisions and an intimate knowledge of a cow family.
